As the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, Mr. Miller is delighted to be working in the beautiful town of Verona. He is directly involved in overseeing the implementation of a number of district initiatives, specifically those related to expanding the use of data to drive assessment, curricular, and instructional decisions, K-12, and improving curricular articulation, K-12. Prior to coming to Verona in July of 2013, Mr. Miller served as a middle school principal in Montclair and Watchung and as an assistant principal at Union Middle School in Rutherford.
Mr. Miller began his
educational career as a teacher of high school mathematics (Geometry,
Pre-calculus, and AP Calculus) at Bordentown Regional High School. In
addition, he coached Varsity Boys' Soccer, Winter Track, and Spring Track.
He was fortunate to work with dedicated student athletes and coaches, and
together they won South Jersey, State, and National Championships. He earned
a B.A. in Mathematics and Education from Trenton State College (now The College
of New Jersey) and his M.A. in Educational Leadership from Rider University in
2003. After graduating with his M.A., Mr. Miller worked as an adjunct
professor at Rider University teaching Data Analysis to future principals,
supervisors and business administrators. In 2003, Mr. Miller and his
wife, Nancy, moved to Berkeley Heights. They have four beautiful
daughters, Sarah, Abby, Emma, and Grace who range in age from 7 to 15!
